The Elements and Animal Correspondences (Ongoing List)
Across many of the earth-based traditions we see the 4 elements of wind (air), water, fire and earth. These elements are used as the pillars of ritual and magic, intention setting and worship – and they are often said to correspond to specific animals, colours, seasons, herbs, quarters of the year, etc. While there are differing opinions out there about which elements best match with which animals, there are some that are agreed upon across a variety of nature traditions.
(You’d be hard pressed to find a group of people who argued that fish should be put into the fire category 😉 )
As I illustrate a new deck, I find myself referring back to lists of the elemental correspondences with their animal counterparts, so I’ve decided to keep a digital on-going list here. Please feel free to leave any additions that you would suggest in the comments below.
